Two days ago, on 16 December, a man was arrested by the police for allegedly spying on a woman in a toilet at a petrol station in Jalan Cinta Sayang, Sungai Petani.

According to Astro Awani, Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah said the 36-year-old suspect was arrested at 5.20pm today when he came to the police station to make a denial regarding the report made by the woman.

He said claims that the evidence given by the suspect was quite dubious and he was detained to assist in the investigation.

“The suspect did not admit to stalking as alleged by the woman but claimed to have entered the women’s toilet due to having a stomach ache, allegedly the male toilet was locked,” he said.

“The investigation also found that the suspect did not have a criminal record and the initial urine screening test found that he was free from the influence of drugs,” he added on.

Adzli said, in the incident that occurred at 10.30pm, the complainant, a 34-year-old woman, was in the toilet and heard a loud knock on the door.

He said the complainant asked her four-year-old child and the child told her that someone had entered the toilet.

“Then the complainant saw the pair of hands and eyes under the complainant’s toilet door space,” he explained.

“The complainant came out of the toilet and saw the man coming out of the toilet next door. The complainant asked the man if he was spying but the man denied it,” he said.

Petrol Station Incident 2

Adzli said the complainant then informed the petrol station and lodged a police report after that.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act.

“The suspect will be remanded tomorrow,” he said.
