The Kuala Lumpur police have increased security around the Russian Embassy in Jalan Ampang following the recent escalation of the Russia-Ukraine crisis. As reported by national news agency Bernama, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed that they would be boosting round-the-clock patrols at the Russian Embassy to ensure that the level of security and public order there would remain under control.

Speaking to reporters last Friday, Azmi asserted,

“So far today, the situation at the embassy is under control from any untoward incidents,”

This development comes amidst Russian President Vladimir Putin announcing special military operations in Ukraine which have escalated to a full-out invasion of the Eastern-European country which has been universally condemned by the global community.

The increased security at the Russian Embassy in KL is seemingly also a response to several Ukrainians residing in Malaysia gathering outside its premises to protest Russia’s attack on Ukraine. As reported by The Star, a small gathering of Ukrainian demonstrators gathered last a Friday in front of the Russian Embassy to voice out against the actions of Vladimir Putin in launching military operations in Ukraine.
