PDRM Searching for Rohingya Man with ACTIVE Tuberculosis Who Escaped Immigration Detention in T’ganu

Police are searching for a Rohingya man who escaped from the Ajil Immigration Detention Depot in Terengganu on Sunday, September 1st.

Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia Negeri Terengganu is asking anyone with information to step forward, sharing details and a photo of the suspect.

Myanmar citizen with active tuberculosis

The post also mentioned that the suspect, Husson, has an active and contagious case of tuberculosis. He was last seen at Lot 59655, Jalan Klinik, Kg Gemia, 23100 Paka, Terengganu.

The caption of the post reads,

“The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) is asking the public for assistance in locating Husson Ahmad Sofiullah, a 25-year-old Myanmar (Rohingya) national.”

As reported by Sinar Harian, Hulu Terengganu District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Zainul Mujahidin Mat Yudin, said that the 25-year-old suspect got away by climbing through the ceiling of the isolation room.

“The suspect, who has tuberculosis, escaped from the detention depot by climbing the ceiling of the cell,” he explained.

Police are seeking the public’s help

Zainul Mujahidin is asking the public to assist by providing any information to Inspector Aiman Baihaqi Che Shaffie at 0199377864 or the Hulu Terengganu IPD Operations Room at 09-6812222 if they spot the suspect or notice any suspicious individuals.

He mentioned that the case is being investigated under Section 223/224 of the Penal Code, which deals with civil servants negligently releasing prisoners and the escape of prisoners from lawful custody.
