On Wednesday (July 16), a Form 1 student was found in an unconscious state in a drain near her school’s female dormitory in Papar, Sabah, and it is believed that she had fallen from the 3rd floor of the building.

Sadly, after being in a comatose state due to her serious injuries, her family decided to pull her life support as they were told that she was brain-dead.

Following this, the girl’s case had gone viral online, and there was speculation that bullying was involved.

60 people were called in

According to a report by Sinar Harian, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun shared that the investigation into this incident is in its final stages, with about 60 people having their statements recorded.

“For now, we have brought the investigation papers to Bukit Aman for their attention and final scrutiny before referring them to the Attorney General’s Chambers. These 60 witnesses involve students, parents and school staff,” he said.

He added that the investigation is taking time due to the fact that the authorities have to go through the statements of the 60 people. Among the people brought in for their statements are 3 people being named on social media as ‘Kak Wana’, ‘Kak Dedeng’ and ‘Tomboi’, who were said to be allegedly linked to the girl’s death.

Datuk Jauteh Dikun further explained that they are not ruling out the possibility of bullying elements in the incident.

“Now, the investigation is focusing on 2 elements, namely the cause of death and the environment. We are not ruling out the possibility of this (bullying) allegation based on the investigation we are conducting,” he added.
