The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has detained two men after they were suspected of threatening a group of journalists covering the 15th General Election (GE15) candidate of a political party in Seremban. The incident happened at a restaurant in the Negeri Sembilan capital city last night with both individuals being detained at 11.50pm the same night.
According to Bernama, Negeri Sembilan police chief DCP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof confirmed that both men, aged between 30 and 40 were picked up by the police in Taman Seremban Selatan following the incident. Ahmad Dzaffir further asserted,
“Both individuals who were believed to be drunk warned reporters from carrying out the coverage. The men also hurled a glass, a liquor bottle and a shoe at one of the journalists.”
The case is currently being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for making threats. However, the police did not specify from what political party event in which the incident took place. Regardless, the Negeri Sembilan police chief further stressed that stern actions will be taken against those who deliberately disturb public order.
