PAS is planning to take legal action against the Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister, Nga Kor Ming, who allegedly accused the party of being misguided. This comes after PAS condemned KPKT’s Christmas celebration held by the Ministry office.

According to a report by Malaysia Gazette, PAS Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, shared that PAS is taking Nga’s recent statements seriously, which accused PAS of being ‘misguided’, ‘spreading heretical teachings’, ‘ridiculing religion’, ‘destroying community harmony’ and ‘blocking the Christmas celebrations’.

“Therefore, for these clear and malicious accusations and slander, PAS insists that we will take legal action against the minister,” he said.

He went on to describe Nga’s statement as a reckless and uncontrolled emotional outburst, stemming from their concerns raised by Deputy Head of the Central PAS Youth Council, Hanif Jamaluddin, about the presence of Muslims at KPKT’s Christmas celebration.

He also explained further about the 2005 National Fatwa Council guidelines involving Muslims participating in events that celebrate the religious holidays of non-Muslims and the Federal Territories Mufti’s Office (Irsyad Hukum Series 818, December 24, 2023).

Takiyuddin said, “Both guidelines and legal explanations by these 2 main Islamic institutions set strict conditions for Muslims regarding this matter because it is included in matters related to Islamic aqidah and belief,”.

“Based on these considerations, the questions and concerns raised by Hanif are appropriate and should be handled carefully and transparently,” he added.
