A Pakistani man was recently arrested for drunk driving after crashing into a restaurant on Jalan Riang Utama yesterday evening (July 19).

The 45-year-old suspect then reversed his vehicle and hit several motorcycles parked in front of the restaurant.

Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said the incident occurred around 6:30 pm, and the suspect also rammed into a parked Proton Persona.

“Members of the public tried to stop the vehicle but failed, and the suspect fled. We tracked him down on the Pasir Gudang Highway, but he refused to stop,” Raub said in a statement today.

The suspect was eventually caught after abandoning his vehicle and jumping off a two-meter-high wall in an attempt to escape.

Raub

Raub added that the foreign man was arrested in a weakened state and had sustained injuries to several parts of his body.

“He was taken to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment. He is also being investigated for obstructing a public servant in the line of duty,” he said.
