Know any corrupt officials but fear for your safety if you expose them? Don’t worry, our government has got your back!

According to NST, Dr Mahathir has promised to protect those in the business community who report corrupt officials from the previous administration. He said this at the opening of the 72nd annual general meeting of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), where he also acknowledged the Chinese business community for being the driving force behind generating wealth in the country.

He said he is aware of how some business people were worried that if they reveal a person who is corrupt, then some retaliation might be attempted by that person or his colleagues.

He then told the crowd:

“If you tell us what happened, we will protect you from any retaliation. We want a clean government and I believe so do you.”

Dr Mahathir also mentioned how when he first came into power in 1981, there was very little to clean up as he had come into a clean goverment that only needed filling with politicians and leaders with experience.

“You only need to fill empty slots with those who are experienced to run the government. Now we need to rebuild the government because so many things have been destroyed,” he said.

He also assured members of the audience that while it would be time-consuming and difficult for him and his Pakatan Harapan colleagues to run things efficiently in the initial stages, they have managed to bring about considerable progress and removed the rotten set-up that was in power in order to begin cleaning up the rest of the country.

There was also talk of reviving the “Malaysia Incorporated” concept, which he said will allow for Malaysia to be regarded as one huge corporation where the government and private sector work to ensure success. He first introduced this policy in his first tenure as Prime minister at a forum held at the National Institute of Public Administration on Feb 25, 1983.

So remember, you don’t have to be afraid of revealing any corrupt officials you know of! After all, we want a clean government for Malaysia Baru right?
