A total of 50 staff at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang have been infected by Covid-19, according to the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS).
Its Health Director, Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said that the 50 health workers are now receiving treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, reported Harian Metro.
“Investigations by JKNS and HTAR teams could not identify the cause of the infections among health workers, whether it was before the patient was admitted to the hospital or while the patient was in the incubation period of 14 days, but the situation was under control,” he said.
“All contacts have taken a swab test and placed under the Home Surveillance Order (HSO) and even all patients who came into contact with the case had taken the same swab test.”
“Patient treatment management at HTAR is still ongoing and is under control.”
Dr Sha’ari added that the hospital has always been vigilant to ensure that the standard operating procedures (SO)P) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) were complied with.
“The location of the Klang district, which is in the red zone, as well as the increase in cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) who received treatment at HTAR resulted in an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases,” he said, adding that the public are advised no to visit the hospital if there is no important reason to.
“The public is also asked not to spread any unauthentic news so as not to cause concern and confusion among the community.”
“JKNS will always ensure that appropriate preventive and control measures are implemented continuously among health workers and patients in the hospital area.”
