A male student in a Johor secondary school was peeped at and filmed while taking a bath last year.

In a report by Sin Chew, the student said he had lodged a police report about the matter, and the school’s disciplinary board was also informed about the case. However, when the student wanted to view the surveillance video, he was told that the video was gone.

The school claimed that the surveillance video had been automatically overwritten by the system and could not be viewed.

The student was also told that the surveillance system was not managed by faculty and staff and could only be viewed after approval from the principal. It was not until the police intervened and formally requested the school to produce relevant surveillance files.

There were many delays during the process, and it took him nearly two months to finally see a glimmer of hope about the surveillance video. Unfortunately, the video footage of the relevant date had already been overwritten by the system update.

“I just want to find out the truth”

In an Instagram story recently, the student shared his thoughts about the matter and said that he has no intention of slandering the school.

“Although there were indeed problems in the way the school handled the process, I don’t want netizens maliciously criticising the school.”

“I just hope to find the truth, and also want to use this to remind my classmates to be more vigilant, pay attention to campus safety, and avoid similar incidents from happening again.”

The school, on the other hand, has yet to release a statement about the matter.
