The viral fight at a Selangor restaurant where the vendor aunty fell after being pushed by 1 of her customers had gained much attention online. The family members of the aunty have since broken their silence and responded via a statement on Facebook, saying that both parties have resolved the issue.

However, that was not the initial plan.

“We didn’t want our mum to get detained!”

In the statement, the family member said they immediately lodged a police report after the viral fight. However, the customers had also filed a police report about the matter, making the situation a little complicated.

“We were told that if we could not reach a settlement and wanted to proceed with the case, our mum would need to be detained for 1 night.”

Given her old age, the aunty’s children refused to let her spend the night in the police station.

“To respect our mum’s wishes, we didn’t go on with the lawsuit and chose to accept the settlement. Our frustrations are indescribable, but we still believe that justice exists in your hearts.”

“We were not entirely right, too”

In the post, the family member explained what happened that night.

The vendor aunty was occupied with her orders and didn’t explain the pricing to the customers patiently, which consequently led to a physical fight. The female customer threw the items at the aunty before grabbing her hair. Her husband also pushed the aunty and caused her to fall.

There was a large pot of boiling water near them but fortunately, it didn’t spill.

The family members, however, promised that they would learn from the experience and mistakes.

“We remind ourselves that we’re in the service industry, and we’ll learn and improve. We appreciate your understanding.”

In response to the violence, they expressed regret and said they couldn’t fathom why the customers resorted to violence and acted rashly.

“As youths, they should’ve handled the matter calmly, not damaging our properties and speaking to us with vulgarities. We couldn’t understand their behaviour.”

Regardless, the matter is now settled. We hope those in the service line will always find room for improvement and as customers, it’s wise for us to avoid resorting to violence whenever problems arise, which will only cause more trouble.
