I’m sure most of us had a fear of ceiling fans falling when we were young and for some of us, that fear remained with us even when we’ve grown up. Well on 10th May, someone posted about a ceiling fan detaching and falling which injured their mother!

In a post by Jasni Jjm which has gone viral with about 11,000 shares on Facebook, we see the stuff from our nightmares come true. According to the post, a Facebook user has shared with Jasni Jjm the dangers of using an old ceiling fan.

The story starts off with the person switching on their ceiling fan. As it slowly starts, the ceiling fan came off and hit their mother! Thankfully the speed was still quite slow, so the mother only sustained a small injury on her neck. We do not want to imagine what might happen if this happened at full speed!

As a safety measure, most if not all ceiling fans have a safety cable to prevent the fan from falling. Netizens said that it is very possible that the person who installed the fan forgot/did not attach the safety cable. Considering how old it looks, they mentioned there is a possibility that some components in the fan may have snapped or broke.

All in all, we should all be extra careful with old household appliances. If you hear weird noises coming from them or they have started to malfunction, please change it to a new one. Your life is important!
