The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, more famously known as Mat Sabu, is encouraging the general public to utilise the space around their homes to plant pineapples.
Taking to his Facebook page, he shared how pineapple cultivation is easily manageable and how selling the harvest can supplement household incomes.

Simple steps for success
The Minister wrote:
“Bang Mat often notices that there is unused space around our houses. It’s such a waste to leave them empty. Why don’t we start planting pineapples? They are not that difficult to maintain.”
“There is no need for a large plot of land; they can even be planted in polybags. Simply place them in a sunny spot, water them in the mornings and evenings, and apply a little fertiliser. Insya-Allah (God willing), they will thrive,” he added.
Eat, share or sell!

Mat Sabu went on to explain how pineapples can benefit households based on individual needs.
“In 8 to 12 months, you will see the results. If you have a small harvest, you can enjoy it with your whole family. If you have more, you can share them with your neighbours. If you have a significant yield, you can sell them to boost your grocery budget,” he noted.
“This may seem like a small gesture, but that is how blessings slowly grow. A small space can become a source of income if we work diligently. Do not wait until you have a large farm to take action. Let’s start with what we have,” he added.
