The whole world has been in shambles since the Covid-19 outbreak. Certain countries have seen a constant growing number of positive cases and deaths whereas others, including Malaysia has seen improvements throughout the implementation of lockdowns.

Now, one country can happily say that they have ridden themselves of the virus!

As according to the Guardian, New Zealand no longer has any active diagnosed cases of the Covid-19 virus.

The country has been 17 days without a recorded new case as their prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, along with their government will soon announce the abandonment of all remaining coronavirus restrictions, except the implementation of strict border control.

Ardern chose to lock down New Zealand on the 25th of March when case numbers were low, with restrictions gradually easing, just like how Malaysia has eased from the Movement Control Order (MCO) to the soon to be implemented Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

In New Zealand, fewer than 1,500 people were diagnosed with the virus and 22 people lost their lives.

Their last remaining patient, a woman in her 50s based in Auckland has also since recovered.

“The Ministry has been notified by Auckland Regional Public Health that its remaining case has been symptom-free for 48 hours and is regarded as recovered. The person has now been released from isolation,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

We’re glad to see that there are countries getting through the Covid-19 outbreak, thanks to good leadership and its people following SOPs.
