Do you still hang the posters of your favourite band and singers, just like how the ’80s and ’90s kids used to do? We can hardly forget the good old times of admiring our favourite celebrities when we could remember the lyrics of their entire album.

At what point would you label the admiration as an unhealthy obsession? A viral post on Weibo by 圈内爆爷 recently revealed that a netizen from China was selling 3 strands of hair of Jan-Won Young, one of the members of the K-pop group IVE.

The strands of hair were being sold online and according to the description, the hairs were picked up from one of her recent concerts.

Did the seller go through the haystack to find a needle, or did the person pluck the hair from Young’s scalp with/without her consent? No one knows.

Young’s hair was being auctioned for a couple of days and in just 2 days, the price hiked up to RMB100,000 (approximately RM60,00o)! Assuming you’re one of the buyers but you have your doubts, the seller claimed that their hair can be authenticated to prove that the strands indeed belong to Jan-Won Young.

Unfortunately, a DNA test is the only way that the seller can’t do to authenticate the owner of the hair.

The final auctioned price recorded was RMB103,662 (approximately RM68,700), and despite the lack of authenticity, netizens were showing interest in buying the strands of hair. Anyone could’ve plucked someone’s hair and claimed it belonged to Rapunzel.

Netizens, on the other hand, were baffled to see such a craze online, and none of them believed that the strands of hair belonged to Young.

“It’s a troll!”

“This world has gone crazy to the extent that I don’t even dare to imagine.”

“It’s obviously a lie. There were so many bodyguards at the concert, it was impossible for anyone to pluck Young’s hair.”

“Can you guys don’t be ridiculous? The seller is obviously trolling everyone.”

Regardless of the nature of the post, would you have bought the hair of your favourite celebrity?
