With the process for a home arrest ongoing, former Prime Minister Najib Razak continues to serve his reduced prison sentence in the Sungai Buloh prison.
It’s never easy to celebrate the festive season without your loved ones, and Najib’s family members understand that feeling. In a shared post on Najib’s FB page, her daughter shared her emotions and feelings about celebrating Raya without her father.
“Selamat Hari Raya, daddy. I felt sad when cleaning the house for the celebration just now.”
Najib’s daughter, Yana, always knows what her father wants the most, including during Raya. In the post, she mentions what her father has always wanted and loved doing on Raya but can’t due to the circumstances.
“He wants to visit his parents’ graves, but he can’t. He wants to go back to Pekan, Pahang and celebrate Raya with the villagers. That’s his favourite Raya moment.”
Yana added that it saddens her and the entire family to even think how her father is celebrating the festival alone behind bars.
“He’s all alone in there, facing challenges after challenges. Only God knows what he’s going through.”
In her IG posts @yananajib yesterday (April 9), Najib’s family took the time to visit Tun Abdul Razak’s grave, and Najib’s absence was definitely felt.
“Still missing our MVP, Bossku.”
Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor was also seen sitting near her family. Just this morning (April 10), Yana shared a Raya family picture and once again highlighted Najib’s absence by saying, “Minus one”.
Najib received a royal pardon earlier, which brought his 12-year prison sentence down to 6 years. In regards to his appeal for home arrest where he could serve the remaining sentence at home, a crucial witness is expected to testify to “strengthen” the application.
The hearing for the application, however, has been postponed to mid-April until the return of the mystery witness from Mecca.
