The Vellfire driver then drove away

In an official statement by the Chief Police of South Johor district, Raub Selamat said the incident was a family dispute.

The 25-year-old driver of the Vellfire, who is the 21-year-old Vios owner’s husband, was not happy after a dispute at home, so he set her car on fire after pouring gasoline on it.

According to police investigations and CCTV footage in the area, the man raced towards the Vios and overtook it before stopping in the middle of the road to set the car on fire. The matter happened last night (February 2) around 10:20 PM at Jalan Tebrau, Johor, near Columbia Hospital.

The victim then lodged a police report around 1:30 AM at the Majidee Police Station. She suffered a loss of RM90,000, and no one from the car sustained any injuries.

The police are now investigating the matter under Section 435 of the Penal Code (causing mischief by fire) and if found guilty, the perpetrator can be jailed for up to 14 years with a fine.
