After a couple of weeks of hot, sunny weather, it finally rained in KL this morning (25 May) but unfortunately, multiple areas in KL have been hit with flash floods as of 12:20 pm.
Just this afternoon, the Facebook page Polis KL provided the latest update on areas that are affected or expected to be hit by the flood due to the rising water levels. If you are planning to use these roads, do take note and plan your journey ahead!
Flooded road
1. Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah from Jalan Ipoh (police are present)
2. Jalan Imbi towards Jalan Sultan Ismail (police are present)
3. Jalan Ipoh/Jalan Rahmat (road from Jalan Raja Laut to Jalan Ipoh has been closed)
4. Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan Ampang (police are present)
5. Jalan Kampar off Jalan Sentul
6. Bulatan Dato
7. Kg Periuk
8. Jalan Duta Mas
9. Jalan Ampang & Jalan Dang Wangi
As of 12:20 pm, these roads in KL are still passable although road users are advised to keep an eye on the situation.
1. Jalan Ampang
2. Jalan Kuching
3. Jalan Raja
4. Jalan Pudu/Jalan Brunei
5. Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah
6. Jalan Maharajelela
These 6 roads are not affected by the rising water level and no damage to the road has been reported so far.
In the meantime, a Twitter post also revealed that as of 12:28 pm, Smart Tunnel has been closed off completely in preparation for the flood. If you’re headed to Bukit Bintang or Jalan Sultan Ismail and planning to use the Smart Tunnel, do plan another alternative.
