In this day and age, billboards and newspaper space have become a marketing tool of the past as the digital landscape have taken control of a majority of our lives.

With that comes new methods of marketing, which has caused the rise of influencers. Now, social media personalities and influencers are the go to advertisement tactic, leading them to set up pricing as for their presence, time and effort.

The Utarmeme Facebook page recently shared a local influencer’s rate, which left Malaysians baffled to say the least.

Utarmeme sarcastically wrote, “‘Top notch’ internet celebrity fees.”

In the posting they shared the unnamed influencer’s charges. Here there are:

  • 1 Instagram Reel – RM22,000
  • 1 TikTok Sync Reel – RM26,000
  • 1 Instagram image – RM7,000
  • 1 Instagram Story – RM3,000
  • 1 10-minute YouTube video synced with Facebook – RM48,000

The high prices caused a shockwave among netizens.

This has made many people want to jump onto the influencer bandwagon purely for the money.

“Children used to want to be doctors and police officers. Nowadays, children’s ambition is to be an internet celebrity Dato.”

Influencer 2

“I want to be an internet celebrity too! Where do I start?”

Influencer 3

“What other job would you want to do? Become an influencer and make tons of money!”

Influencer 4

“Can consider doing this.”

With the way this is going, we may not have doctors or engineers in the future.
