An unnamed group took to social media to share a video showing how dog catchers from the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS) were confronted over alleged mishandling of stray animals in the area.

In their status update, the video begins with the group condemning what they described as abusive treatment of strays.

One of the activists said, “What you are doing is not right. This is too cruel. We are here to feed them and spay them, this is how we control the population.”

The contractors responded by commenting on the cleanliness of the area, claiming that feeding the strays contributed to the mess.

“There is no such thing as a dirty area. We feed them using our bowls and we clean up once they’re done. That’s not true.”

The exchange escalated in a second video, where tensions visibly rose.

Accompanied by the caption, “MPS contractors dragged strays until they bled… isn’t this wrong?”, the argument centered around the alleged mishandling of the animals.

“Don’t perform your drama here. The dogs aren’t doing anything, yet you still catch them!”

Netizens were divided in their reactions to the video. Supporters of the activist group voiced their outrage.

“Dogs are also God’s creatures. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean you can treat them like that.”

One user said, “As a Malay Muslim, I also feed strays at home and at work. If they bark at people, I scold them and tell them not to, people may not like it.”

Meanwhile, others sided with the contractors and argued that the contractors were simply doing their job.

“Stray dogs spread diseases like rabies. Maybe it’s time the activists experience this firsthand.”

“If you love them so much, like stray cats, keep them in your own home. Don’t let them live on the streets,” said a user.
