After the Economic Stimulus Package announcement by our Prime Minister on 27th March, lots of people have been very pumped up to receive the financial aid. Taking advantage of that, scammers are posing as LHDNM to get your personal banking information! How despicable!
According to Sebenarnya.my (a portal by the government to combat fake news), if you receive this text message, then it is from scammers.
In the text, they will say that you are eligible for the financial aid given by the government and that payment will be done in 24 hours. They will also ask for the name of your bank, your account number, Internet banking ID and also password.
LHDNM has confirmed that this is indeed a scam and that they would only send SMS to you via two numbers which are 62000 and 63833 only. In addition to that, LHDNM would not ask you to give away your personal information and also banking information through SMS.
Below is the real message that LHDNM will send to you if you’re eligible to receive the financial aid mentioned in the ESP.
They will not ask you for any of your information and will just give you confirmation that you are eligible for the money.
However, if you have not received this SMS and you don’t know if you’re in the LHDNM system, then you can check here:
- Bantuan Prihatin Nasional ((Household income of RM4,001 -RM8,000 & single person with income from RM2,001 – RM4,000)
- Bantuan Sara Hidup (Household income of less than RM4,000 & single person with income less than RM2,000)
Stay clean, stay vigilant and stay safe everybody!
