Eight ladies in their mid-40s, 50s and 60s were draped in sarees took to the streets of Damansara Heights and ran for charity, managing to collect more than RM17,000 for a local Ceylonese body that supports the elderly, underprivileged and physically disabled.
For some of the ladies, it was more than just a charity run as they used the run as a way to remember their late mother.
“The Vijayanathan sisters, radiologist, Dr Anushaya and accountant Sasha wore their mother’s sarees in remembrance of their mother’s tenth death anniversary on 29th November.”
Speaking to Varnam.my, “My mum did charity in a big way, and it was a priceless experience for Sasha and me to do our part while wearing her saree.”
The entire run, which took almost half an hour saw much support from their family members who strolled beside them throughout the event.
Let’s hope that these ladies will be able to inspire others to the same and run for a charitable cause.
