The government has introduced the Menu Rahmah initiative to ease the lives of the B40s. Since then, many eateries have started to take part in the initiative, but a man is apparently STILL not a fan of the initiative.

According to a status that he shared online which has been reposted by many people, the man, who has a wife and 7 children said that it costs him a total of RM45 to enjoy the Menu Rahmah. In the “season” of price hikes, RM45 for 9 pax is rare and cheap. What makes it expensive for the man is that he has to spend RM45 twice a day, every day.

If you do a simple math by multiplying RM90 by 30 days, that increases the amount to RM2,700. Taking the fuel price into account, the man said that he has to spend about RM3,300 just to travel for food alone. That sounds like the lifestyle of the T20s.

There’s something called homecooked food

His status has been reshared multiple times, and many Malaysians found it baffling that the man dines out every day, twice. They had a lot to say, and some netizens took the opportunity to remind the anonymous man that homecooked food still exists.

“That’s so rich of him to pay for 9 people and dine out every day. It’ll take him much lesser if he cooks and eats at home unless he shops for groceries at Village Grocer or Mercato.”

“I hope all his children won’t inherit his stupidity.”

“He doesn’t need Menu Rahmah, he needs a Rahmah family planning.”

“Why would he dine out every day if he knows it’s over the budget? Without Menu Rahmah, it would’ve been RM8 per person, and adds up to RM4920 per month.”

“What is he trying to prove? Is he trying to say that he spent lesser before Menu Rahmah? Or the hike in prices? If so, don’t have to blame and attack Menu Rahmah specifically.”

Menu Rahmah is undeniably cheap and rakyat-friendly. Still, it’s wise to come up with financial planning if you MUST dine out every day.
