For those new to India, visiting the Taj Mahal is a must-do, something you just can’t miss. Its stunning architecture has made it a true icon. But before you go, it’s important to know the rules and regulations.

In a recent viral video circulating online, Malaysian women are shown waving their national flag while standing on the pathway near the central tank on Taj Mahal premises, as a harmless gesture of patriotism.

According to Hidustan Times, the Malaysian women’s act went against the established rules at the Taj Mahal, which strictly prohibit promotional, commercial, and canvassing activities on its premises.

Prince Vajpayee, a senior conservation assistant at the Archaeological Survey of India, emphasised that such activities are prohibited on the site.

When questioned, the tourists allegedly claimed they were unaware of the restrictions on canvassing or promotional activities at the Taj Mahal.

While mobile phones are allowed, other items are prohibited. However, these items often go undetected during frisking at the Taj Mahal gates.

The Malaysian women submitted a written apology for their actions and were then permitted to depart. The Indian tour guide who accompanied them also admitted to being unaware of the monument’s regulations.
