A video has been making the rounds online showing a shop owner expressing his frustration after encountering a customer who came in to buy a surprise gift for his son.

According to the shop owner (@nicholaschong2206), the customer said he had purchased a motorcycle to celebrate his son getting his driver’s license.

The man made full payment for the motorcycle

The man had paid in full for a small, affordable motorcycle that he felt was suitable for his son to commute to school.

However, he admitted he was worried his son might not like the gift, especially since the purchase was meant to be a surprise and his son had no idea about it.

The shop owner later advised him to bring his son to the shop before registering the motorcycle.

“The motorcycle isn’t cool enough”

When the son arrived at the shop, he immediately made a sour face and criticised the motorcycle, saying the brand and model his father had chosen weren’t to his liking.

The shop owner responded to his reaction, saying:

“The model you want is nearly twice the price of this one, which is around RM11,000 to RM12,000. Since you’re just commuting to school, this bike is more than enough for now.”

However, the son doubled down, saying he didn’t like the brand because it wasn’t cool enough and looked ugly. He added that all his friends had cooler motorcycles.

Unable to find common ground, the shop owner eventually offered the man a full refund.

“I’ll be honest, I was really hurt. Not because I couldn’t sell the motorcycle, but because the son acted like he had no sense. If he thinks he’s so great, then go earn his own money and buy whatever bike he wants. Don’t ask for money from family. He clearly has no respect for them at all,” the shop owner said.
