M’sian Tahfiz School Staff Fined RM1.2k for Slapping Student Who Ate Bread Without Permission

Earlier, it was reported that a male student at a tahfiz centre in Terengganu claimed he was injured after being slapped by a dormitory warden for eating bread without permission.

It was understood that the warden became upset after finding out that the student had eaten bread that was meant to be served as breakfast for all the students the following day.

Following the incident, the 41-year-old warden was fined RM1,200 by the Magistrate’s Court today (June 4), according to Kosmo.

Magistrate Sharifah Amirda Shasha Amir Sharifuddin handed down the sentence after the accused, Mohd Norzaizhul Zainudin, pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the charge sheet, he was accused of slapping both sides of the 16-year-old victim’s face, causing injury.

The incident was said to have taken place at the tahfiz centre’s dormitory at 3.45 PM on April 26.

The warden was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to one year in prison or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Zhan Yi, while the accused was represented by lawyer Masliela Ismail.
