During our schooling years, we learn about a variety of different things from those which are strictly academic to everyday life things which are things that everyone should know.

One of these things include the ability to read an analog clock and tell the time accurately. Although most of us probably have no issues doing so, it was recently revealed that a number of Malaysians actually struggle to tell the time when it comes to analog clocks.

In a Twitter post by @MHaffizJ, he wrote, “Today I learned that a lot of people are unable to read an analog clock. I mean I get that if you can’t read 24 hour format but damn?”

In a follow up tweet, he asked why people looked at it in terms of multiplications of the number 5.

“WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNNNNN. There are no calculations to make here, man.”

Failure of schools?

His tweet which has since gone viral caught the attention of plenty of netizens who shared their thoughts on it in the comments section. Those who are able to took to the comments to express their shock at how Malaysians are unable to do it as it should’ve been something that was taught early on.

“Our school has failed.”

A user commented, “I was shocked too, we learned that during primary school and kindergarten right?”

Meanwhile, some users explained why it is they struggle with doing so.

“It’s because of the fact that they’re used to digital watch/clock and phones. So they don’t see analog clocks anymore.”

“Some of us are a bit slower thus take a few seconds more than regular people to read analog clocks. I opt for digital clock every time,” shared a user.
