It’s no secret that Malaysians are famous for having road rage, especially during moments when there is excessive amounts of traffic. And while some road rage incidents end with shouting and anger, other incidents have ended in accidents and injuries.

For instance, just days ago, a road rage incident between a Proton Waja driver and a Honda City driver caused the Proton Waja to skid and crash into a road barrier. Thankfully, the driver and passenger of the Proton Waja only sustained minor injuries. But, what if they were not so lucky?

Road Rage 1

5-Time Malaysian Rally Champion, YS Khong, has since taken to his TikTok page to share a piece of advice on how to reduce road rage for the sake of road safety while using the above incident as an example. And what was his advice, you might ask? To SMILE.

Road Rage 2

He wrote, “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin. Remember to drive safely on the road as you reunite with loved ones. May your travels be smooth and secure, allowing you to embrace the joy of togetherness this festive season. Eid Mubarak!”

In his video, he showcased a clip of the road rage incident mentioned above.

He then advised the general public to smile more as it’ll help to build more patience, especially while on the road.

Road Rage 3

“During this season, there are many who are using the roads, there are some who are heading back to their hometowns, some who are going shopping, some who are going on holiday, or just going here and there. So, I have 1 tip, don’t forget to smile,”

“Why? Because when you smile, your mood will become better. And when your mood becomes better, you will become more patient. Even if there are people doing stupid things on the road. Don’t forget, do not fight on the road. Because when you fight, no one will benefit from it. There will only be losses,” he said.

Road Rage 4

He then went on to wish Malaysians a Selamat Hari Raya.

In all honesty, that’s the best advice on road rage that we’ve heard in a long, long time!
