Malaysian celebrity chef and entrepreneur Khairul Aming has been in the F&B industry for years. Recently, he obtained the Halal certification from JAKIM for his products, which are selling like hotcakes online: Dendeng Nyet Berapi and Sambal Nyet.
The announcement was made on his social media on November 20. Some social media users, however, became a bit sceptical about the Halal status of Khairul’s food before it was certified.
The celebrity chef has since responded to the dilemmas. In his social media post on November 21, Khairul ended the debate once and for all.
The lack of the Halal certificate before this DOES NOT mean his food was not Halal.
In his X post, Khairul explained that procedures had to be followed before his food could be Halal certified.
“The construction of the factory started from scratch, so we needed time to complete the production line properly. This process was managed in stages. First, we obtained the MeSTI certification from the Ministry of Health (KKM), then we applied for halal certification, and next, we will apply for the other certifications.”
Khairul also assured Malaysians that his products are Halal, and said,
“I, myself want to eat those food.”
He also said that applying for the Halal certificate elevates the factory’s standard and assures others that the cooking process is clean and safe.
Now that Khairul’s products are certified Halal? What next?
“We can plan to expand our market,” Khairul said in his post.
To those who have tried his best sellers, what do you think of them?
