As we all know, Zoo Negara was once housing pandas that China had loaned to Malaysia.
One of the first locally-born pandas was Nuan Nuan (which means warmth), who went to China when she was 2 years old in 2017.
On April 25, Nuan Nuan’s caretaker or “dad,” visited Nanjing, China, to give the panda a visit.
The visit was captured on camera and posted by the Embassy of China in Malaysia on their Facebook page.
Nuan Nuan’s caretaker, Mr Akmal was visibly very happy and was grinning from ear to ear when he was near the enclosure.
According to Xinhua, Akmal took care of Nuan Nuan from the time she was a baby until she was sent home, so it’s no wonder that he is so happy to be reunited with her.
When he arrived in front of her enclosure, she was still sleeping but after she woke up, Akmal called out to her and waved to her.
Nuan Nuan seemed to be still a little drowsy and tried to move but to no avail. Hence, she just shared a look with Akmal.
Later on, the caretaker brought out a small panda toy that Nuan Nuan used to cuddle to sleep when she was a baby.
As they were apart for so long, he lingered at the front of Nuan Nuan’s enclosure for a little longer while looking at her doing mundane things.
This wholesome interaction had us almost bursting out in tears. We would definitely love more panda content!
