If you’re lucky, you get along well with your in-laws. However, not everyone is that fortunate, and sometimes relationships with in-laws can be challenging.

In a recent confession story shared by @twtsecretsmy, an anonymous woman (let’s call her Amelia) revealed just how tricky and rocky her relationship with her in-laws can be.

“We hope you pass away during labour”

Amelia shared that she’s a mother to 1 child who, to this day, has never met her husband’s family. She explained that she made this decision because she didn’t want her child to have any association with them.

She recounted an incident during her pregnancy when her in-laws expressed wishes for her death during labour.

Amelia mentioned that she and her husband were pushed to live with her in-laws, but she feels uneasy because the house is already crowded. As a wife, she thinks she should have a say in such decisions.

“I’ll always remember the terrible things they did to me and my husband. They even tried to break us apart because we refused to live under the same roof as them,” she added.

Her husband’s family said that she’s a gold digger

Amelia then recounted how her husband’s efforts to take care of her led to dissatisfaction from his family, who criticised the support he provided her.

In response, his family directed hurtful comments towards Amelia, her husband, and even their unborn baby.

“The emotional toll from his family was too much. They would send me cruel texts daily and even made threats. At one point, they tried to drive a wedge between my husband and me. Thankfully, my husband saw through their tactics and stood up for me.”

Despite all the turmoil, she revealed that she and her family have distanced themselves from her husband’s family. Now, they are happy with their lives, but the hurtful actions and words of her in-laws still deeply affect her to this day.

“I could never love your child like how I love my other grandchildren”

Amelia made it clear that she has never stopped her husband from seeing him because they’re still his family, despite their actions. However, she’s firm about not letting her child have any ties with them.

She shared how her father-in-law once said he couldn’t love her child like he loves others.

“I want to break the cycle of toxicity with them. I won’t let their negativity affect my child. People criticise me for keeping my child away, but they don’t know why.”

Amelia ended the confession by asking,

“If you were me, would you do the same? Or would you forgive and forget?”
