Body alterations and modifications are on the rise as more and more people are going through procedures to “fix” part of their bodies.
However, there are plenty of stories of procedures gone wrong.
Recently, a man announced that he will be suing his aesthetic doctors after a procedure to fix his nose went wrong and left his nose deformed.
According to Harian Metro, the complainant who is a salon owner, is suing two aesthetic doctors from a well known clinic for RM2.7 million after suffering from a defect in his nose.
The writ of summons and statement of claim dated 28 March were filed by Messrs. Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak (HWAM) on behalf of client, Adam Hamil against two individuals.
Adam stated that he originally underwent surgery to correct his slightly crooked nose and that the doctors told him that there is a 98% chance that his nose would return perfect.
According to him, however, after performing the surgery on 21 May last year at a cost of RM10,000, his nose became deformed and did not look as promised by the doctor.
“I then met them again and they gave antibiotics before offering a second surgery for free. But, my nose did not improve and only got worse after doing it for the second time on 28 June last year,” he said at a press conference at the HWAM office.
He said that he found out about the existence of the service through celebrities who made promotions related to the clinic. Meanwhile, his lawyer, Datuk Wan Azmir Wan Majid, said the statement of claim demanded RM2.7 million.
“It includes special damages amounting to RM152,211.95, general damages amounting to RM2.1 million including damages for medical negligence, trauma, shock, emotional stress, loss of reputation and business confidence.”
“Whilst, exemplary damages amounted to RM500,000,” he added.
He also said that his client’s claim against the defendant is on the power of medical negligence, misrepresentation and fraud against the client while performing ‘rhinoplasty surgery’.
“This claim is about a nasal defect suffered by our client. The suit has been filed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court and the case management is set for 12 May,” he said.
We hope that the man gets fairly compensated for the botched procedure.
