It is often said that you should never judge a book by its cover. This also applies to people and the different struggles that everyone has to face. Just because your life is different from others doesn’t mean that it’s more difficult.
A Malaysian recently took to TikTok to share her thoughts. In a short clip, Raja Fija says, “I’m not trying to invalidate parents who are struggling to find money for their kids but an unmarried person having to work for money for their parents is so overlooked.”
Fija then went on to say that just because someone doesn’t have kids yet, doesn’t mean that your efforts should be invalidated.
“I am sorry for not being in the same shoes as you but if you are not the breadwinner for your parents, please don’t discredit my efforts for my parents.”
M’sians agreed with her and showed their support
Her TikTok video has amassed plenty of attention and currently sits on over 167,800 views and 23,500 likes. Plenty of users took to the comments section to share their thoughts.
“Single people can’t even complain that we’re tired. They’ll say that we don’t even have a husband and kids to take care of. I have to take care of my parents and my siblings are all still studying,” said a user.
Another user explained that those who are married can at least split their commitments and responsibilities.
“For those who are unmarried, who are we supposed to share with? Our cat?”
Meanwhile, a netizen explained that at office, unmarried people tend to stay late till night and have to standby on weekends to give an opportunity to those with families to spend time with them.
