Imagine studying really hard for your degree only to be rejected from job opportunities for the sake of language skills.
But, language skills are important too, right?
Netizen, @meinmokhtar, took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) page to showcase an anonymous confession by a first-class engineering degree holder who has been losing out on potential jobs due to his lack of English language skills.
Netizen, @meinmokhtar, wrote, “This is what you call ‘soft skills’. But, you can learn English. Learning English is confirmed to be easier than engineering. And you will feel less envious. Improve yourself.”
In the post, the anonymous confessor shared that his peers, who scored lesser grades than he did, have received job opportunities because they can speak English.
“I studied first-class engineering. But, because I am not good at speaking English, I’m unemployed now,”
“I swear my friends scored normal grades, but they are just good at bullsh*tting in English and they have all immediately gotten jobs. I know them, they are not exactly hardworking or anything. They are just good at talking. I swear it feels like the world is not fair,” the first-class honours degree holder wrote.
What do you think? Should he have gotten job opportunities despite his lack of English language skills or is it necessary for an engineer to speak English?
