On 8 March, Malaysian radio announcer and TV host Yoon got her new car stolen. She shared a video of CCTV footage on her Facebook account, stating that this happened less than 78 hours after she got the new car.
“The timing is the point, I have reason to be suspicious,” she said. According to her, this incident happened on 6 March 2023, around 12pm to 1pm, at PJ Seksyen 17 where many people come and go. “My husband parked the car outside of a restaurant during lunchtime, and it was gone when we were about to leave!” she added.
They immediately asked for the CCTV footage from the restaurant and saw that a man in a black shirt was near the vehicle. He only used up one to two minutes to steal the car and drove it away like it was his.
“I only got the car for a few days. Originally, I wanted to install the anti-theft Lock and GPS this week. Eventually, it’s too late,” she said, adding that the police also mentioned that recreational vehicles got frequently stolen in recent days.
Yoon also urged the public to be vigilant, and said that it is important to install anti-theft and GPS systems for new cars. She also said that she will consider installing a traditional steering lock for her next car.
