Whenever it is peak hour, our public transportation are often filled to the brim with commuters. You’d be extremely lucky to be able to get a seat on the train especially considering how some commuters are selfish enough to take up an otherwise empty seat with their bag.

Recently, a video of a LRT user occupying a seat with multiple shopping bags went viral on social media and sparked criticism from netizens.

The video, which was uploaded on Twitter, showed the LRT user sitting comfortably while other passengers were forced to stand as there were no available seats.

Edit

The seat next to her was occupied with multiple shopping bags belonging to her and she did not appear to make any effort to move them, despite the packed train carriage.

The text in the video reads, “It’s common sense for people to immediately move their ‘paper bag’ to the side if someone wants to sit, but this person didn’t seem to care even though people were looking.”

Such selfishness

The tweet has since gone viral and garnered over 295,600 views as of now. Plenty of netizens condemned her for her selfishness.

“I travel from one end to the other end via train. If I see a paper bag or water bottle (on a seat), I would just tell them to move it or pretend that I’m about to sit there.”

“If it were me, I’d just pick up the bag and put it on the floor,” said a user.
