Stray dogs are abundant in Malaysia but that’s only because there are limited spay, neuter and release programs to help regulate the amount of dogs without homes.

But that does not mean that these dogs should be treated poorly as they are innocent creatures that have no choice but to live on the streets.

Recently, the Persatuan Penduduk Taman Pelangi Semenyih Facebook page showcased members of the Kajang Municipal Council catching strays in their area after multiple complaints were made about stray dog disturbances.

They wrote, “Congratulations to the MPKJ on their efforts to prevent stray dog disturbances. Once they received the complaints, they acted immediately.”

Though, the A Fortress of Fur Facebook page has since released a set of photos of the same incident, shared to them by a netizen, in which the members of the MPKJ acted cruelly and inhumanely towards these dogs.

A Fortress of Fur wrote, “1) They dragged the puppies on the road. 2) If you were to zoom into the picture, you can see that his foot is stepping on the puppy. How can we progress as a nation if local authorities don’t even follow merciful standards.”

And sure enough, the picture clearly shows the member of the MPKJ stepping on a puppy as he drags along another one by a catch pole.

How is it necessary to step on these puppies and treat them so cruelly as part of the process of catching them? After all, it is not their fault that they are out in the streets without a home, it’s just the lives they were unfortunately given.

We hope that the Kajang Municipal council looks into this issue and takes action against the staff members assigned to this case. They should also hire staff members who are more understanding towards and kinder to the dogs they have to capture.

A Fortress of Fur’s posting has since garnered over 226 shares.

Dogs are innocent creatures who should be treated kindly, after all, they have feelings too and are man’s best friend.
