Twitterverse yesterday was particularly peeved by a few errant people who refused to follow the Movement Control Order (MCO) which the government has been constantly reminding everyone about.

Unfortunately, the acts of these defiant people seem to be centered in one specific area in Kuala Lumpur and it had led to the whole internet calling them out.

#MontKiara was trending on Twitter yesterday (26th of March 2020) with various Twitter users posting pictures of residences in Mont Kiara casually strolling outdoors and some were even seen carrying out their exercise activities, seemingly to have forgotten about the existence of MCO.

The government aspires to reach 100% compliance rate for MCO. But if people are still refusing to adhere to it, then how lah?

While the rest of Malaysia is dealing with the extension of MCO, things seems to be completely different in Mont Kiara. Netizens have criticised the lack of care shown by some people in Mont Kiara towards the urgency of the whole MCO situation.

Every one seemed to be even more upset as people in Mont Kiara are known to be in the more wealthy class. However, the attitude and ignorance shown during this pandemic was a disappointment.

Based on the criticisms drawn by Twitter users, a common thread could be seen here. People are defying the MCO not for the reasons you think.

It looks like Mont Kiara residences are inseparable from their daily jogging.

Everyone is advised to #stayathome during this important time. The government has extended the MCO for a reason and we should all exercise our social responsibility instead.

If you see anyone who’s not adhering to the MCO, you are advised to contact the authorities to report it. By playing our part, we get to help the other frontliners in their efforts to curb to Covid-19.
