Last weekend, a thread on X (formerly known as Twitter) went viral about a 37-year-old female teacher who was apparently in a relationship with her 17-year-old student.

Screenshots of the conversations between the alleged mother of 5 and the teen were attached to the thread as well before it was deleted.

As this issue has gone viral, investigations on both the MOE’s side and the police’s side have taken place.

Fadhlina Sidek Minister Of Education

According to BERNAMA, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that the teacher must comply with investigations on both sides.

“It is still under investigation at the police level, and I have repeatedly emphasised that the MOE is fully committed to cooperating with the authorities.”

Elaborating more on the ministry’s actions now, she added: “At this point, we (MOE) are taking the approach to fully protect our children, so the teacher has no connection or access to students whatsoever. She is suspended until the investigation is completed.”

In earlier reports, the minister also said that they would be taking action against the teacher if the allegations were found to be true.

The teen’s mother had lodged a police report against the teacher on December 12 which alleges that the teacher had molested her son in a library.

Holding Hands

Sepang District police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof has also taken the teacher’s statement.

Stay tuned for more updates.
