Ministry of Transport Allocates RM450 Millions To Upgrade LRT Service & Safety With 23 Initiatives

LRT train services have recently found themselves under fire for the constant issues which caused delays and inconvenience to its users.

In response to that, Dato Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, The Minister of Transport revealed yesterday (25 May) that works are being done in order to further improve the LRT service & safety on the Kelana Jaya line.

A total of 23 initiatives will be implemented for the Kelana Jaya line and they include 5 short term initiatives (1-3 months), 11 medium-term initiatives (3-6 months), and 7 long-term initiatives (more than 6 months).

As of now, the short-term initiatives and medium-term initiatives have been completed while the long-term initiatives are still underway.

In total, The Ministry of Transport Malaysia has allocated an amount of RM450 million for these initiatives in improving the LRT services & safety.

Last Friday (May 20), the disruption on the Kelana Jaya LRT line was caused by brake calliper hydraulic leakage & Dr Wee said repair works are ongoing and are expected to be completed by this November.

To manage cases of train disruption, Dr Wee also said extra buses would be added to strategic hubs like the Bangsar LRT station and the Pasar Seni hub, which will serve as alternative modes of transport if delays occur.

Hopefully, with these initiatives, the LRT services and safety will be better in the future!
