Recently, Malaysian actress Nabila Razali started trending in the Malaysian Twittersphere for wearing a sheer top during an event. In order to conserve her modesty, she wore a skin-coloured shirt on the inside so that nothing risky could be seen through the sheerness of her blouse.
Unfortunately though, some (male) netizens took to her picture to leave her comments about how she should be embarrassed to wear the blouse.
In a now viral Twitter posting by Capt (@shahrulxr), he compares the picture of Nabila Razali in the blouse and one of the comments written by a male netizen.

Capt captions his posting with, “Malay guys at their best, as always,” referring to the constant policing of women’s clothing by Malay males.
The comment featured reads, “If it’s possible, avoid wearing these kinds of shirts please. We know you’re wearing an inner layer, but us guys can see other things. You should feel embarrassed for wearing shirts like this.”
Based on Capt’s caption in the posting, he was against the whole movement of men commenting on women’s bodies and their clothing, but he tried to see the brighter side of things.
“I am not triggered by what she’s wearing at all!”
“Truthfully, we should only take the positives out of these situations. There is some good in him to reproach her regarding the nude coloured inner layer, but what’s not right is the fact that he scanned her body in the first place.”
This eventually caused a debate online on whether or not he had the right to tell her how to dress.
Some netizens took the man’s side, saying that he only said what he said as he was concerned for her.
This comment goes, “I don’t know. I feel like he only reproached her for the good of her own body and indirectly, for everyone else as well. But that’s the thing, he was labelled as lecherous. Well guys, let’s not reproach anymore after this. Just keep quiet if you see anything.”
Though, what seems wrong here is, why does he (a complete stranger to Nabila) know what’s good for her body?
Other netizens on the other hand, completely shut the man down as they believed there was nothing wrong with what she was wearing.
This comment reads, “Of course he’s being lecherous. What can you even see? It’s an inner layer, can you guys see through it? If you do, then it’s your own problem. Deal with it by yourself. Don’t blame us for your horny dick.”
Others even pointed out that the inner layer Nabila is wearing is darker than her skin tone, hence it’s visible that she’s wearing additional layers.
When it all comes down to it, I believe it’s a gorgeous shirt. Nabila is rocking it and she’s minding her own business and she’s successful in her career. You go, girl. Maybe instead of criticising how a woman dresses, men should focus on the content of her character.
After all, if Nabila can be a successful Malaysian actress, she can also handle making her own decisions about how she dresses.
Capt’s posting has since garnered over 4,500 retweets.
What do you think? Did the man cross a line when he thought he could comment on how Nabila was dressed, or was he just being concerned? Do let us know your opinions in the comments section.
