Following advice from the Ministry of Health, McDonald’s Singapore is set to close its doors to customers until May 4, 2020.

The closure which not only affects store operations but McDelivery and Drive-thru services as well was done as a precautionary measure to protect employee and customer safety.

As Singapore enters the third week of the month-long circuit breaker, many closures have taken place especially amongst big brands such as Muji and Ikea.

McDonald’s Singapore Managing Director Kenneth Chan said that McDonald’s is simply doing its part to flatten the curve.

“These are indeed unprecedented times for all of us. We have done all we can to put in place every safety precautionary measure to keep our employees and customers safe – and will continue to do our part to flatten the curve.”

“Most of all, we will continue to stay strong as a brand and people to ride out this difficult period together. As always, we thank our customers for their continued support and look forward to serving them again on May 5.”

McDonald’s Singapore has a network of over 135 restaurants, 17 Drive-Thrus, 42 dessert kiosks, 48 McCafé outlets, and has more than 10,000 people serving six million patrons a month.

Currently, Singapore has overtaken Malaysia in Covid-19 cases, recording a total of 5,993 with another 942 cases recorded yesterday comprising work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

Let’s hope that the measures put in place will flatten the curve not only for Singaporeans but also for the ASEAN community alike.
