The Switch warehouse sale for Apple products is happening today and it looks like Malaysians just love a good bargain! Social media users have been sharing photos of the crazy situation happening at MyTown Shopping Centre in Cheras and it is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Just look at the insane crowd!
Astro Radio News reported that the traffic conditions at the roads leading to MyTown is terribly congested and hence motorists are advised to use alternative routes. They urged motorists not to use Jalan Cochrane and Jalan Perkasa, which lead to MyTown as 1km of the roads are full of cars.
Other netizens who were at the scene shared videos and photos of the place and it looks as crazy as the Black Friday sales they have in the Unites States of America. It was reported that some of the people had queued from last night until this morning and the lines were growing longer. The queue was so long that it even went all the way out of the mall!
However, if you are one of them who hoped to scoop up a demo unit of an iPhone or one of the other Apple products, then tough luck. Switch has posted an update about the warehouse sale on their Facebook page and announced that the outlet at MyTown will be closed for the day.
Here’s what they said:
At first, they were enthusiastic about the sales and were trying their best to handle the queue. They even handed out queue numbers as hopeful customers waited for their turn to grab an Apple product at a discounted price. Seeing the overwhelming amount of customers, Switch finally had to tell those who were on the way that they could no longer fulfil the demand.
They said, “If you’re on your way to MyTown, or are currently in the queue outside the mall’s building, we would highly advise that you do not proceed with the queue, as we might not be able to fulfil all of our customer’s requests today.”
Outraged customers started complaining on social media and blaming Switch for the poor management. Apparently, they had changed the queue location without early notice and those poor souls who queued earlier did not manage to get any queue numbers. That’s not all, the warehouse sale only had a few units of each item listed so you can bet that many would be disappointed as a lot of items had already sold out.
Looks like the sale, which was supposed to last for three days until March 4, would be ending earlier than expected! Or perhaps they would have more stock for the following days?
