When it comes to IKEA, it’s not just about the furniture. Some people visit the place for their famous meatballs with gravy and jam. But here’s a question. Do you clear your own plates after you finish your own meal?
Recently, a Malaysian took to his TikTok account and shared a video that shows a man who had to clear an abundance of trolleys with countless plates and trays. The incident took place in IKEA Cheras and in regards to the shortage of manpower, the caption revealed that only 2 men were at the scene to clear the trays of plates that were ‘lining’ up.
The video has gained more than 45,000 views and frequent visitors to the IKEA restaurant commented that they were baffled by the scene. The same question has since been raised after the circulation of the video – do customers clear the plates themselves in IKEA?
‘I miss the times when we did everything by ourselves. Back then, as a customer, we would’ve cleared everything for the convenience of the next customers. Now, I’m having a culture shock.’
A user has since commented and said the scene has nothing to do with the shortage of manpower as the customers themselves are expected to clear their own trays.
In the meantime, a user said the scene was simply caused by the crowds and there was no one to be blamed. Another user, on the other hand, said that IKEA has taken the liberty to notify everyone about clearing their own trays.
The next time we visit the restaurant in IKEA, perhaps it’s due time for us to make it compulsory by clearing the table ourselves?
As a customer of IKEA’s restaurant, do you think we should do our own part by clearing the tables for the convenience of others, or do you think it’s not our responsibilities as customers to ease the job of others?
