He may have gotten away with it previously, but not this time.

Just yesterday (15th May), a man was caught for allegedly cheating a few Malaysian limousine drivers of their money and running away. In several videos that went viral on Facebook, he was slapped, punched and kicked in his head while being recorded.

In one of the videos, he admitted that he had cheated three drivers out of their money so far and pleaded for everyone around him to stop hitting him.

“Look at this man’s face. He always cheats drivers’ money and goes everywhere (with a limousine) and not pay for the fare,” a person was heard saying in the video.

According to netizens who seem to have insight into this incident, the man is a conman and his modus operandi involves booking limousine services at five-star hotels. Sometimes, he even books luxurious MPVs such as a Toyota Vellfire and Hyundai Starex to mislead drivers into thinking that he’s a rich person.

“The drivers thought he must be a rich person since he can afford to stay at five-star hotels. In the car, he purposely talks loudly on the phone and acts like he’s a boss. Then he says he wants to book the car for the whole day to make you feel happy.

“Then, he asks you to stop by certain locations and have you wait for him. Before getting out of the car, he borrows money from you saying that he doesn’t have much cash. You will lend him a few hundred ringgits because you think, he’s staying at a five-star hotel and will return the money at the end of the day.”

That’s his MO and so far, three drivers have fallen for it. A netizen revealed that the minimum charge for booking a Toyota Alphard is RM350 and booking the MPV for a whole day will cost RM850. No wonder the drivers thought he’s a rich man.

The viral videos received a mixed reaction from netizens. Some said it’s okay to rough him up a bit to teach him a lesson while others said the conman should be handed over to the police.
