The sight of cockroaches scurrying makes lots of people cringe on the inside.

That is probably what this woman felt when she found a whole nest of cockroaches in her backyard.

According to New York Post, a Brazilian man was asked to get rid of a cockroach nest in their backyard by his wife.

The man, Cesar Schmitz said,

“My wife complained that there were a lot of roaches invading our garden. She is scared of them and begged me to destroy their nest under the ground once and for all.”

He decided to use a bug spray meant for beetles, which caused the cockroaches to rush out of their nest. He was thinking of how to get rid of all of them at once when suddenly, he had an idea. He lighted a match and threw it into the hole, then added one cup of gasoline. Just one cup.

Nothing happened, so he threw more matches into the hole until the whole yard area blew up.

He said,

“I wish I’d thought this through before. I had no idea that this could happen. Luckily the damage was only contained on the lawn. If I had been standing closer or the table had hit me it could have been fatal.”

The man said that he’s still cleaning up the mess the explosion made but at least the cockroach problem is solved now.

A surveillance camera recording of that incident was uploaded to Youtube and it shows him lighting up several matches after using the bug spray and pouring in the gasoline.

That was truly a dangerous thing to do! We hope that his wife did not give him an earful and no one will be following suit trying to blow up cockroach nests!
