Not everyone is lucky enough to have a BFF; someone they can connect with, whom they can completely be themselves around and who makes them feel safe, seen and heard.
Hence, it is important to not give up on these friendships too quickly just because it is inconvenient.
For example, a man recently reunited with his BFF after 44 years of zero contact. That’s almost half a century!
In a video by @jojojosterrr on her personal TikTok account, she shows the touching moment her father finally met his long-lost best friend. They exchanged a hug, then repeatedly patted each other on the backs as if to say, “It’s good to see you again.”
In true besties’ fashion, the two men were also caught going to the toilet together. They could not stop talking as they walked to and from the bathroom, probably catching up with each other over what had happened in the last 44 years.
It seems like both men’s families were also present at the reunion. According to Jojo, they “couldn’t leave each other’s side for a second [and] couldn’t stop hugging”.
They also managed to recreate a photo they took as youngsters. So cute!
Why did they lose contact?
After the video went viral, everyone wondered how and why the two men lost contact with each other.
In a follow-up video, Jojo clears the air by asking her father the very same questions that everyone is dying to know the answers to.
It seems like there was not any bad blood that drove the two men apart. Instead, they were living their own lives but could not keep up with each other because of the inaccessibility of social media and phone calls back in the day.
They separated when Jo’s dad left the US to return to Malaysia while his friend, Patrick, stayed back in the US.
Then, Jo’s dad was in India, Korea and Japan for over ten years while Patrick moved around different states in the US.
What prompted the reunion?
According to Jo’s dad, the reunion was part of his efforts to reconnect with his old friends. He had not seen these friends in years and did not want to wait till it was too late.
“Half of my classmates passed away,” Jo’s dad explained.
“So now I must treasure and contact all my old friends again.”
We hope Jo’s dad manages to reconnect with more of his old friends!
