‘Abang Botak’ or Danial Abdullah Tan, has recently received a lot of flak from his fellow Malaysians after a video of him attacking a car went viral.

31-year-old Danial was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to smashing the windscreen of Siew Chan Voon’s Perodua Alza in a road rage incident in Serdang.

While some were happy to see him charged, a man has offered to replace the victim’s broken windshield so that Abang Botak can be released.

Taking to Facebook, Mohd Fadzli Ramli wrote a compassionate message urging Siew Chan Voon to accept his offer, and allow Danial’s two kids to enjoy Hari Raya with him.

He writes, “After reading the story of Abang Botak who is now sentenced to a year in prison, I realised he would spend his Hari Raya in prison.”

“It saddens me to think that he has two little children who have to spend Raya without him.”

“With a humble heart, I would like to offer Alza owner Siew Chan Voon a replacement for his broken windshield and beg him to apply for Danial to be released as soon as possible.”

In his post, although he agrees that what Danial did was wrong, he still made the request out of sympathy for Danial’s wife and children.

“He too deserves a second chance… I read that this was his first offence. Maybe he was just having a bad day and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

In his post, Mohd Fadzli also mentioned that he understands what Danial went through during the incident, adding that he too was once a motorcyclist.

“Maybe those who rode motorcycles would understand the situation. Things that happen on the road can spur an individual to react in such a way.”

Several commenters applauded Mohd Fadzli for his efforts and stated that everyone should do all they can to help.

“You are right… I truly support your intention to help the family. Guilty or not, we have to keep in mind his family and children. There may be a reason as to why he acted in such a way.”

“May God ease your endeavour to help him.”

Some even offered to help pay for the damages.

“Another friend of mine too offered to pay for the damages. I am of the opinion that the Alza owner has already replaced his windshield. There may be other ways to help out. I can transfer the proceeds from my charity event to help out as well”

It is indeed always heartwarming to hear complete strangers going out of their way to help another in their time of need.

We sincerely hope that assistance is given to Danial’s family and hope that such an incident will serve to educate the public to be more mindful of their reactions in the future.
