He was beaten and robbed

Police have confirmed that the 23-year-old man was beaten and robbed at a karaoke centre in a Johor shopping mall.

In a statement, Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said the police report was filed on 7 September, before the victim’s photos appeared online.

He added that the victim suffered injuries to his head, eye, and hands. He had also received treatment at a hospital.

A manhunt for the suspect is currently underway

Raub added that the investigation to locate the suspect is ongoing. He also urged the public not to speculate in ways that could disrupt the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 and Section 394 of the Penal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison, fines, or whipping if convicted.

“Anyone with information can contact the Johor Bahru Selatan Police District Hotline at 07-2254677 or reach the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Syahriezam Shamri, at 014-8028427,” he added.
