The things that some people do when they’re desperate for money can be heartbreaking, or hilarious. In this case, at least this man did not steal and hurt anyone.

Just recently in China, a man tried to trick the ATM machine into believing that he has real money by “depositing” joss papers into the cash deposit machine. He carefully arranged the stack of joss papers and put them into the cash deposit machine, which the machine surprisingly accepted.

The man then moved to another ATM machine beside to check if the balance in his saving account has magically increased.

Sorry to tell you, the amount in his savings account remained the same. Nothing more, nothing less. Little did the man know, his attempt in depositing joss papers into the machine caused a damage, and he imeediately ran away out of fear, as reported by the Chinese media.

However, it didn’t take long for the people in the bank to report the matter to the police about the faulty machine. The police checked through the CCTV footage, which recorded each and every single move of the man, who have been arrested.

“I wanted to see if the machine could be tricked”

The police interrogated the man to identify his motives, and he admitted to the autorities about having no money at all. He got the idea of buying joss papers and depositing them into the machine, and see if his balance could magically increase.

“I wanted to see if the joss papers could trick the machine into believing it was a real money, and increase the amount in my savings account.”
